Celestion Ditton 10 or 11
By XR80H, 6. August 2025, 07:08.
I have been searching for pair of quality small British speakers for an 11x13 kitchen system... as I spend a Lot of time there. Prefer B110 woof and T27 tweet. Amp will be modified KLH Eight radio. For spkrs, my shelf size limited options are Celestion Ditton 10's or 11's, KEF Reference 101 or pre 1974 Cresta or Coda. I live in a small town in Oregon and like the sound of older wood Brit speakers.. Any advice as to which Small British speaker look for ?
Thanks,
Audiokarma Rapide.
The Ditton 10 has a small magnet Celestion HF1300 for tweeter and Celestion woofer about 5” diameter. The larger magnet HF1300 is used in the Spendor SP1. With Any speakers with a rubber surround on the woof… it is essential to thoroughly clean both sides of the surround with 92% alcohol and then apply multiple coats of either Caikleen or Carbusonic rubber rejuvenator and conditioner. All the UV damage, dirt and debris must be removed or your driver will be stiff and sound muffled. Matt at Haycross Audio and the Dittonworks are both UK goldmines of early Ditton info. I recommend a donation to hifiengine so they can continue to provide copies of valuable literature and provide a venue to share experiences.
