Linn 5103 controller dead, convert linn 5140 to passive

By Eric Dortch, 1. April 2019, 18:04.
I have a set of Linn 5140 active speakers, along with a center and l/r rear speakers. My controller is toast, and i want to use at least the tower speakers. I have the idea to convert them to passive and use a regular av amp. Any suggestions. I have a 5103 processor (which is toast) and three amps to power the speakers. I just want to use the speakers somehow. Any suggestions?

Disclaimer: I am no Linn expert and have not used an Aktiv setup in practice.

If my understanding is correct, the Lin Aktiv mode is achieved by removing the passive crossover from the speakers and inserting Aktiv modules into the power amplifiers. Thus, the controller is not as critical as one might think and you should be able to use any controller/pre-amp that can feed the three power amps.

Please verify this before taking decisive steps..
