Discuss Miller&Kreisel S-1 B
M&K S1b question?
By Raymond Dunne, 21. October 2022, 02:10.
Greetings, I recently acquired a pair of Miller & Kreisel S1b satellite speakers for $50. I have a decent system already although not quite the caliber of these speakers. The cabinets were originally black but were in pretty bad shape. No major damage, just age and possibly lot's of sun exposure and a lack of care, however the speakers (drivers) all appear to be authentic and are all in good working order. the grilles are also still in pretty good shape. I'd say better than "fair" but probably not "very good". They do show their age however are undamaged save for one of the plastic retainers on the speaker cabet being broken off. I am a professional painter by trade so I gave them a nice gloss white paint job with clear lacquer top coats. I refrained from attempting a piano finish on these because of time constraints, but I could very easily make it happen if someone were interested. I could also change the color to pretty much anything one could desire. I only painted them white because I was torn between white and black when I built my Jamo system a few years ago. I ended up choosing black but have always wondered what it would be like to have white speakers. I am tired of everything being black and I'm not really a fan of most common wood finishes either. These speakers were also missing feet so I gave them some however are definitely not authentic, I just got some screw on white rubber feet from Ace hardware as I have no time to research original feet and tracking them down etc. Anyway, as much as I am impressed by what these speakers are capable of and what they represent, They do not fit in with either of my current systems, I am not financially able to build a system of this caliber, nor am I that much of an "audiophile". I just enjoy generally good sound from systems that are within reach from my poor financial status. I'd love to be able to as I am quite intrigued now but it's just not feasible for me at this time. My question is what would be a reasonable asking price to put on these given they are not finished in an authentic finish and the original feet are missing?
