If I read your question correctly, you are asking if the amplifier is as good as NAD products? Onkyo products have historically been very good. This amplifier is from about 1987, and I would expect it to have a good phono stage for the time. Looking at the specs, however, it does seem that the phono stage is let down a bit by the MC head-amp, as that deteriorates the S/N ratio quite a bit.
